Types of Curls
Type 2 (wavy hair) is bendable with definite, multiple S patterns from root to tip. It ranges from tousled textures and beachy waves to fluffy, not-so-defined curls.
Type 2a
Almost flat, loose S-pattern. Fine waves, lacking volume at the root.
Type 2b
More defined S-shaped waves. Thicker than 2 A, more prone to frizz.
Type 2c
Well-defined S-patterns and thicker waves, sometimes even loose curls. Susceptible to frizzing and poofing.
Type 3 (curly hair) encompasses all types of curls: tight springs, loose loops, corkscrew patterns, and heavy ringlets.
Type 3a
Large, soft curls that are stretched and bouncy. These morph into loose spirals.
Type 3b
Springy ringlets and defined curls. The spirals bounce off each other, giving a voluminous look. Prone to frizz and dryness.
Type 3c
Tight springs and corkscrew curls that are small and densely packed – making your hair look super voluminous. Most prone to breakage, dryness and frizz.
