With so many products on the market for hair care - from styling and molding cremes to sprays, masks, and deep-conditioners - there are a host of things that you can do to your hair today. Most of these products can tip from being beneficial to being potent for your scalp, what with all the unnecessary chemicals! But why use so many products in your hair in the first place?

We decided to streamline an effective yet simple daily hair-care routine into 4 easy steps. So if you’re looking for a quick, everyday routine that won’t strip your hair of its natural oils, here’s what we recommend.

    Step 1: Shampoo + Condition

An effective cleansing ritual for your scalp involves using a gentle, non-toxic shampoo, that nourishes while it cleanses. It’s important to keep your hair free of the dust and grime of everyday life, preferably using a cleanser that doesn’t add chemicals to your scalp. However, don’t wash your hair too often or you’ll strip your scalp of its natural oils!

It’s a great routine to follow up your shampoo with a natural conditioner. Regular conditioners tend to make your hair limp because of all the harsh and heavy chemicals they contain. So opt for something gentle and nature-derived, and have your hair looking glossy and healthy in no time. We recommend shampoos and conditioners that are mild, natural, and plant-based, containing no parabens, fragrance, SLS and other synthetic ingredients. Have a look at our range here

    Step 2: Hair Cream

A good hair cream can totally transform the way your hair looks on a day-to-day basis. It can add a great, glossy shine and a healthy texture to your strands, and if you’re looking for more volume, it can do wonders to thin, flat hair. It tames unruly curls, frizzy strands, and does just about whatever you want it to do with your locks. We recommend running it through your hair as a pre-styler, either when your hair’s wet (for a medium-to-strong hold) or when it’s dry (for a strong-hold look), that can last the entire day. Check out Aratas plant-based hair cream that is light, water-soluble, and rinses out in a jiffy.

Step 3: Comb, Scrunch & Detangle

Section and comb your hair into four to six parts after working in the hair cream, and scrunch each section if you want more volume. If you’ve got a great head of curls, this technique is excellent to add body and gloss. If your hair is thin, fine, or straight, run your fingers through each section and detangle gently, loosening any knots and shed hairs.

    Step 4: Hair Gel

For a finishing touch, you can style your hair with a hair gel that maintains your locks for hours. If you’ve got long, fine hair that unravels over the course of the day, or unruly curls that are difficult to tame even after applying a nourishing hair cream, try using a light hair gel to keep your locks in check. Apply a small amount evenly through your strands and sculpt as you like. We recommend avoiding gels that are full of harsh chemicals that cause more harm than good. Switch to a natural hair gel, that nurtures your scalp, like the one we have at Arata, which celebrates nature-derived ingredients like organic Flaxseed extracts and Japanese Honeysuckle.
