Everything you
need to know

Most hair loss and hair growth solutions in the market either come with side effects or target only one pathway and overlook the fundamental reason contributing to hair loss. This makes expected results harder to achieve.

Introducing MitoActive™, India’s first hair growth serum that re-energises the mitochondria, activating multiple pathways to boost hair growth. Built on longevity science, it corrects one of the core causes of hair fall, decline of mitochondrial function, to result in denser hair over time.

Powered by Y100™, a first-of-its-kind bioactive compound, MitoActive™ allows hair follicles to function at their optimal level by producing more cellular energy through mitochondrial biogenesis. Y100™ has also been dermatologically tested for safety, with no side effects observed on any woman during clinical trials1 and 100% of participants reporting no itching, irritation, or burning2. Developed in a scientific partnership with Yuva Biosciences Inc, USA, MitoActive™  is the biggest innovation in the hair growth science to directly target follicular mitochondria for hair growth.

1Based on an HRIPT dermatological evaluation of YuvaBio® Y100™, wherein side effects refer to erythema, induration, vesicles, and bullae.

2Based on an 84-day perception study during a clinical trial evaluating the effects of YuvaBio® Y100™.

Y100™: A bioactive compound validated through in-vitro studies, Y100™ promotes mitochondrial biogenesis by upregulating key biomarkers. By acting at the root cause of hair fall, it enhances cellular processes to deliver benefits that go beyond symptom relief.

  • Reduces hair fall: MitoActive™ targets the core cause of hair loss, the decline of mitochondrial function, to reduce hair fall and hair in the telogen (shedding) phase, covering wide parting lines or thinning areas on the crown.

  • No side effects: Y100™ showed no adverse effects in any participants during the clinical trial, and MitoActive™ underwent further dermatological testing to prove it was safe and non-irritating.

  • Helps activate hair growth: MitoActive™ enables hair follicles to function optimally by increasing cellular energy, helping them to transition back to the growth phase and boosting hair growth.

  • Amplifies mitochondrial biogenesis: Powered by Y100™, MitoActive™ is India’s first hair growth serum that supports mitochondrial biogenesis, the function of the mitochondria which leads to more bioavailable energy for hair growth.

  • Makes hair look fuller: By reducing hair fall and supporting hair growth, MitoActive™ helps improve total hair density, making hair look denser and fuller than before.

STEP 1: Shake well before use.

STEP 2: Twist the dispenser (the top half) to reveal the dual-action applicator, designed to both apply and massage.

STEP 3: Place the dual-action applicator on your scalp.

STEP 4: Gently press the blue bulb once to release 0.5 ml of the solution onto thinning areas such as the parting lines and crown areas.

STEP 5: Glide the applicator to ensure full coverage.

STEP 6: Massage the serum in using the applicator itself, or remove the bottom cap and use the scalp stimulator in circular motions for added stimulation. Leave the serum in, do not rinse.

FREQUENCY: Apply twice daily, once in the morning, and once at night. Use regularly for at least 90 days.

MitoActive™ has been dermatologically tested to be safe for use. In a clinical trial involving women, no side effects were observed among any of the female participants during the study period.

Yes. MitoActive™ can be used alongside Minoxidil. The two ingredients work through different mechanisms. Minoxidil primarily acts as a vasodilator, while MitoActive™ supports hair fall reduction and hair growth by improving mitochondrial function and cellular energy within the hair follicle. If you're using both, apply one product, allow it to absorb completely, and then apply the other, or use them at different times of the day.

However, it is worth noting that Minoxidil has numerous side-effects, including itching, redness, contact dermatitis, shedding upon starting and stopping treatment (initial and withdrawal shedding respectively), and MitoActive™ has no known side-effects. Therefore, if they are used together, any side-effects will be attributed to Minoxidil, not MitoActive™.

MitoActive™ is suitable for all scalp types, however it is a hair growth serum, and will not help with dandruff/itchiness. If you're experiencing dandruff or persistent scalp irritation, we recommend treating the underlying scalp condition alongside your hair growth routine. For that, we recommend Arata’s Anti-Dandruff range.

Yes, but only after your surgeon or dermatologist advises that your scalp has healed sufficiently. Since recovery timelines vary between individuals, always follow your doctor's recommendations before introducing topical hair growth products.

It depends on the cause of the bald spots. MitoActive™ is designed to support hair growth in areas where active hair follicles are still present. If the follicles are no longer functional or have been permanently damaged, the serum is unlikely to regrow hair. We recommend consulting a dermatologist to determine the underlying cause of the bald spots.

No. MitoActive™ requires active hair follicles to work. It is not designed to regrow hair in completely bald areas where follicles are no longer present or functional.

Yes. MitoActive™ has been tested on Indian consumers. Arata conducted an independent consumer study across India. In addition, MitoActive™'s main ingredient, Y100™, has been evaluated in a clinical trial conducted in India with Indian participants.

While MitoActive™ can safely be used alongside coconut or other oils, we do not recommend pairing the two together as it might hinder the absorption of the serum. However, if you must pair it, for optimal absorption, we recommend applying the MitoActive™ to a clean, dry scalp rather than layering it directly over hair oil. It is worth noting that MitoActive™ also contains coconut oil, hence the benefits of coconut oil can be obtained through MitoActive™ itself.

Derma-rollers that are safe and certified for at-home use (such as titanium ones with 0.5 mm needles) can safely be paired with MitoActive™ as long as the appropriate usage techniques and sanitation practices are followed. However, for professional-grade, in-clinic microneedling, please consult with your medical professional or dermatologist/trichologist.

Try to be as consistent as possible. Missing one application will be of little to no consequence, simply continue with your regular routine at the next scheduled application. However not following the recommended routine and dosage for a long period of time will affect your hair growth results.

For best results, apply twice daily, once in the morning, and once at night. Use regularly for at least 90 days.

This depends on how often and how much you use. Each bottle contains 30 ml of MitoActive™, and the recommended usage is 1 ml per day (0.5 ml in the morning and 0.5 ml in the evening). If used as directed, one bottle should last around 30 days. Using more than the recommended amount will make it run out sooner, while missing applications may make it last a little longer.

If you are breastfeeding, consult your doctor before using MitoActive™. They can advise whether it is appropriate based on your individual and medical circumstances.

Yes you can, but only once your scalp has fully dried. Applying the serum to a wet scalp may hinder its absorption.

Yes. Apply MitoActive™ first and allow the serum to absorb and dry completely before using any styling products. This helps ensure optimal absorption and performance.

Yes. You can wash your hair daily while using MitoActive™, provided you leave the serum on the scalp and do not rinse it off. Apply the serum after washing your hair, once your scalp is dry, and for best results, use it twice daily (morning and evening) for at least 90 days.

Yes. MitoActive™ can be used alongside Redensyl-based products. The two ingredients work through different biological mechanisms, and neither ingredient has any known side-effects. If using multiple leave-in products, allow MitoActive™ to absorb and dry before applying the next product to help ensure optimal absorption and performance, or apply them at different times of the day.

MitoActive™ has undergone dermatological safety testing and the active ingredient Y100™ has undergone Human Repeat Insult Patch Test (HRIPT), with no reported itching, irritation, or burning during testing. However, if you have a known fragrance sensitivity or a history of allergic reactions to cosmetic products, we recommend performing a patch test before regular use.

Yes. MitoActive™ is suitable for colour-treated hair and is not expected to affect your hair colour.

Yes, since MitoActive™ is a scalp product, it is suitable for chemically treated hair, including hair that has been straightened, relaxed, or permed.

Yes. Since MitoActive™ is applied to the scalp rather than the hair shaft, it is suitable for use with keratin-treated hair.

MitoActive™ is formulated as a lightweight, fast-absorbing serum with an invisible finish. Most users should not experience excessive greasiness when used as directed, however individual results may vary based on climate, scalp, and hair type.

MitoActive™ can be used by adults of all ages. In younger individuals, it can be used as a preventive measure to support optimal mitochondrial function, even before significant mitochondrial decline or visible hair loss has occurred. This is because younger individuals may experience mitochondrial decline due to factors such as stress, poor nutrition, environmental factors, or certain types of hair loss. As we age, mitochondrial function naturally declines, making mitochondrial support increasingly important.

Arata has exclusive commercialisation and distribution rights for Y100™ in India, making MitoActive™ the only product in India formulated with this proprietary mitochondrial hair growth ingredient.

MitoActive™ has not been evaluated for use during pregnancy. As a precaution, it is best not to use anything during this time unless prescribed by your medical practitioner. They can advise whether it is appropriate based on your individual circumstances and medical history.

Yes, MitoActive™ may be used to support healthier hair growth after pregnancy-related hair fall has begun. However, if you are breastfeeding or have recently delivered, we recommend consulting your doctor before starting any new topical hair growth product.

Female pattern hair loss

The most common cause of hair thinning in women, typically seen as widening of the part and thinning over the crown. In an 84-day clinical trial of Y100™ in women with pattern hair loss, every female participant experienced reduced hair fall, with an average reduction of 73%1.

1Based on an 84-day in-vivo clinical study facilitated by the proprietor Yuva Biosciences, evaluating hair shedding in women using YuvaBio® Y100™ twice daily.

Menopausal hair loss

During menopause, estrogen levels decline sharply, which may affect mitochondrial function. This hormonal shift can also increase the influence of androgens, contributing to hair thinning and hair loss.

MitoActive™ contains Y100™, an active ingredient that supports mitochondrial function and ATP production, potentially helping support hair follicle activity and growth. MitoActive™ may therefore serve as a supplementary topical treatment to support hair fall reduction and increased hair growth during menopause.

Note: Y100™ has been clinically tested in women aged 35-50 with pattern hair loss (AGA), but not specifically for menopausal hair loss.

Postpartum hair loss

Postpartum hair loss primarily occurs due to hormonal changes. During pregnancy, elevated estrogen levels keep hair in the growth phase (anagen) for longer. After childbirth, estrogen levels drop, causing more hair follicles to enter the resting phase (telogen) all at once, leading to excessive shedding.

MitoActive™ may serve as a supplementary topical treatment to support hair fall reduction and increased hair growth during postpartum recovery. Its key active ingredient, Y100™, has demonstrated promising results in an 84-day clinical trial involving women. The study reported an increase of up to 335.53% in the anagen-to-telogen ratio2, with 75% of female participants experiencing increased anagen hair growth3.

Note: Y100™ has been clinically tested in women aged 35–50 with pattern hair loss, but not specifically in postpartum hair loss. If you are breastfeeding, please consult your doctor before use.

2Based on the best observed response in women, in an in-vivo study facilitated by the proprietor YuvaBio Sciences, evaluating the effects of YuvaBio® Y100™ on Anagen Telogen Ratio, when used twice daily for 84 days.

3Based on an in-vivo study facilitated by the proprietor YuvaBio Sciences, evaluating the effects of YuvaBio® Y100™ on Anagen Density Gain, when used twice daily for 84 days.

Thyroid-related hair loss

Both hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism can contribute to hair fall by affecting cellular metabolism. Hypothyroidism slows metabolic activity and energy production, while hyperthyroidism accelerates metabolism and may increase oxidative stress.

Since hair follicles require significant energy for growth, MitoActive™ may help support mitochondrial function and cellular energy production while helping protect against oxidative stress.

Note: MitoActive™ has not been clinically tested in individuals with thyroid conditions. Its potential benefits are based on in-vitro studies of Y100™ involving COXII and SIRT3 expression and antioxidant activity.

PCOS-related hair loss

Women with PCOS often have elevated androgen levels, including testosterone and DHT, which can contribute to hair thinning by shortening the growth phase (anagen) and gradually shrinking hair follicles.

MitoActive™ may serve as a supplementary hair growth treatment alongside appropriate PCOS management. Its key ingredient, Y100™, has been clinically tested in women, with 75% of female participants experiencing increased anagen hair density in an 84-day clinical trial3.

Note: Y100™ has been clinically tested in women aged 35–50 with pattern hair loss, but not specifically in PCOS-related hair loss

3Based on an in-vivo study facilitated by the proprietor YuvaBio Sciences, evaluating the effects of YuvaBio® Y100™ on Anagen Density Gain, when used twice daily for 84 days.

Stress-related hair loss

Stress can prematurely push a larger proportion of hair follicles from the growth phase (anagen) into the resting phase (telogen), leading to diffuse thinning across the scalp.

While addressing the underlying stress is essential, MitoActive™ may serve as a supplementary topical treatment to support hair fall reduction and increased hair growth. Hair growth is a highly energy-intensive process. By supporting mitochondrial function, MitoActive™ may help improve follicular energy supply and resilience, potentially supporting hair growth during the recovery phase.

Note: MitoActive™ has not been specifically clinically tested for stress-induced telogen effluvium.
