A Summer Cleansing Ritual For Your Skin

Toss out the toxins this summer!

For soft and dewy skin, we’re all about home-made remedies, eating right (because your gut plays a huge role in the way your skin responds to the external world), and well, putting what you eat on your body. However, during the dry and dusty heat of this season, we find that along with holistic remedies, it’s super important to have a great cleansing ritual, the kind that’s all about nourishing your skin with conscious self-care.

How might you do this? We’ve got three simple steps that will give your body that everyday loving it craves.

Exfoliate

Rejuvenate and exfoliate your skin after a long day with a gentle, nourishing scrub. While it’s best to exfoliate once or twice a week, we recommend that you stick to a mild, natural blend if you’re doing it more often than that. We like the basics: papaya and sea salt, oats and honey, or even coffee and sugar. You could even try a refreshing mango scrub if you’ve got sensitive skin, to slough off the dead cells, the pollutants, and the dirt.

Cleanse

An effective cleanser can change the way your skin reacts to irritants and pollutants. You could use home-made besan (chickpea flour) as a paste, or a more traditional ubtan to brighten your skin. Opt for a gentle cleanser that doesn’t contain harsh and unnecessary chemicals, which tend to strip away your body of its natural oils. At Arata, we have a gentle, plant-based cleansing wash made from a unique blend of coconut, apricot and honeysuckle flower extracts, and it’s devoid of all the usual chemical suspects you find in most body wash brands. Hydrate

Moisturize with an effective lotion or body butter, preferably one that doesn’t make your skin too sticky or heavy. Your body is exposed to environmental pollutants and seasonal irritants that can cause a host of issues, from cracks and flakiness, to sunburns, inflammation, and even dehydration. Our motto is to nurture your body with some plant-based, chemical-free love always! It’s important to choose a moisturizer that celebrates the healing powers of nature, and one that contains soothing organic ingredients, like coconut, green tea, lavender, shea butter, and so forth. Our Arata Body Lotion is created with a delicate blend of shea, cocoa and mango butter, and fragranced with refreshing tea tree and mint.
